Spring Clean Your Beauty Products

By | Skin Care

It may not seem it but be warmer weather is coming and with that, it’s time to clean out your beauty cabinet. With the changing seasons comes modifying your hair and skin care routines to better suit the warmer weather. Here are some tips for cleaning out your vanity and picking new products for the summer.

Check expiration dates
It is important to stay on top of product expiration dates and check them at least twice a year. Makeup, skincare and even hair products expire, so using them beyond that date raises the risk of breakouts and bacterial infections. When in doubt, it is always best to just throw it out.

Clean your brushes
Makeup and hairbrushes can be bacteria breeding grounds if not routinely cleaned. This is one of those chores that can easily fall by the wayside. Consider setting a reminder on your phone once a week so you don’t forget to clean them.

Reorganize your cabinets
It can’t be Spring cleaning without organization. Going through your cabinets will give you a chance to toss anything old or empty. Reorganizing does not have to be boring. Have fun and get creative personalizing your space.

Switch out Winter products
Most people find that in cooler months their hair and skin are drier and more oily when it’s warmer out. Switch out your Fall/Winter products for Spring/Summer ones. This is as simple as changing your heavier moisturizer for something lighter weight or switching out your hair oil for a serum instead.
